Home Learning
At Greenleys First School we encourage our pupils to engage with regular discussions about what they are learning at school and send home half-termly curriculum newsletters. We also encourage pupils to practise:
Reception (5-10 minutes per day as a guide)
- Sounds of the week work
- Words of the week work
- Daily reading using their RWI home reader
- Number work/KIRFs (Key Instant Recall Facts work)
Year 1 (10-15 minutes per day as a guide)
- Daily reading using their RWI home reader
- KIRFs (Key Instant Recall Facts work)
Year 2 (15-20 minutes per day as a guide)
- Daily reading using their RWI home reader
- KIRFs (Key Instant Recall Facts work)
Each week all pupils bring home 'sharing books' from the school library that parents can read aloud and share with their child. Pupils are not expected to be able to read these books independently.
Children are also encouraged to find out more about the topics that they are exploring, as per the Curriculum newsletters, and can bring in artefacts, posters, photos or any self-initiated work that they would like to share with the class.
